What’s the Most Family-Friendly Chevrolet Vehicle?

July 24th, 2022 by

There are a lot of factors that go into making a good family hauler, from a spacious cabin with room for everyone to the latest advancements in safety features. If you’re shopping for a new vehicle to tote the kids around, keep reading. Here are Chevrolet’s most family-friendly options and why you should put them on your short list of must test drives.

The Suburban: Large SUV

If you have a large family, there’s nothing better than the 2022 Suburban. It’s Chevrolet’s largest SUV, with three expansive rows and seating for up to nine passengers. With this cavernous automobile, even the grandparents can come along on your next road trip.

The new Suburban is equal parts workhorse and family hauler with its class-leading cargo hold and robust power options. You can haul a room full of furniture thanks to 144.7 cubic feet of room and a 6.2-liter V8 engine on Z71, RST, and Premier variants. This powertrain setup was once reserved solely for the range-topping High Country trim.

Parents will also love the Suburban’s advanced technology package. Chevy centered the 2022 model around its user-friendly 10.2-inch touch screen. You’ll also get more standard safety features this year, including front parking sensors, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.

The Blazer: Midsize SUV

When you’re in the market for a new vehicle, an excellent place to start is with the versatile Blazer. Chevy’s designers made some big changes to this beloved SUV for 2022. It now touts a stock turbo-four that cranks out 228 horsepower. Who says parents can’t enjoy the ride? This new setup performs well at the pump too, earning an EPA estimated 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg highway. Those ratings crush most rivals in the class.

The Blazer’s cabin is an inviting place to spend your commute to work and school. It offers an outstanding standard infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. There are also four USB ports so everyone can charge their devices on the way. Blazer’s rear row offers plenty of elbow room for three kids, too. Chevy includes two complete sets of LATCH car-seat connectors as well as a tether anchor for the middle spot.

The Tahoe: Large SUV

We think the 2022 Tahoe outperforms rivals like the Sequoia because of its lineup of potent engines and a long list of standard and available family-friendly features. Fuel economy is a top priority for most parents, and you don’t have to sacrifice a large SUV to save at the pump. Chevy can outfit the updated Tahoe with its new turbodiesel engine. It delivers outstanding fuel economy, earning up to 21 mpg city and 28 highway.

GM also added loads of standard driver assistance features this model year. You’ll appreciate the added confidence of lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and front parking sensors. Also new standard is the Buckle to Drive function, which requires passengers to buckle up before the car can move. That’s not the only change with Tahoe’s tech package. Chevy installed a huge, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster in every trim above the base LS.

The Malibu: Midsize Sedan

Not every family needs a large SUV. If you prefer a sedan, Chevrolet has you covered with its economical 2022 Malibu. This option boasts one of the lowest starting prices among competitors, and it still offers everything a growing family wants and needs, like a roomy interior, a smooth ride, and its user-friendly infotainment system. Mom and Dad will also appreciate its other appealing traits, like a potent engine that delivers awesome fuel economy estimates. Another figure you want to know is Malibu’s predicted reliability rating. JD Power gave it a score of “great,” or 84 out of 100.

Its well-appointed cabin also sets it apart at this price point. Cloth upholstery comes standard, or you can upgrade with luxurious amenities like leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Heated rear outboard seats and power-adjustable front seats also help make it one of the best values among midsize sedans.

The Bolt EUV: Compact Crossover

Chevrolet just released its all-new Bolt EUV for the 2022 model year. This electric SUV made its debut with the enticing features eco-friendly families want, like an upscale interior, refined handling, and a smooth ride, even over road imperfections and rough pavement.

This new edition is better than the previous model Bolt, with a roomier cabin and more advanced technology that works well for smaller families. Chevy’s innovative Super Cruise program is a semi-autonomous drive mode that works on certain highways to manage the car’s steering, acceleration, and braking functions.

Urban parents will love its zippy acceleration while navigating city streets and congested traffic. It even touts a respectable all-electric driving range. You’ll get up to 250 miles per charge. This “electric utility vehicle” also has ample cargo room to transport your kid’s gear to the soccer field. There’s even enough room for two folding camp chairs for mom and dad.

The Traverse: Midsize SUV

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse ranks in our list of recommendations because it’s a classic family hauler with room for seven occupants and plenty of luggage. This pick is hard to beat with its comfortable interior and intuitive tech features. For the new model year, it hits dealer showrooms with a refreshed exterior, plus standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Traverse’s punchy 3.6-liter V-6 engine provides the power you need to manage your daily to-do list. It pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission to put out 310 horsepower. With this SUV, you can even tow a small camper or boat weighing up to 5,000 pounds. Wouldn’t the kids love spending time at the lake? This SUV shuttles everyone around in superb comfort. Most crossover SUVs don’t offer such a gentle ride. Even speed bumps won’t disturb your sleeping baby.

Chevrolet makes a lot of great options for your new family-friendly vehicle. Which one is best for your needs? Did we forget your favorite GM automobile? Let us know what makes it a top choice for other parents who are shopping around.
